The SPS Stadia + Arenas System decking helped deliver Daytona International Speedway’s ‘Daytona Rising’ renovation in 2013/14, transforming the 54-year old venue to meet the Speedway’s evolving demands.

In total, roughly 20,000 ft² [1865 m²] of our structural composite, SPS, was installed in the new Hospitality Suite Walkway, part of the improved access to the Grandstand and Hospitality Suites.

Site conditions required small cranes for lifting, so the project called for a lightweight but strong solution. SPS met the brief perfectly, minimising load on the existing support structure. Beyond its light weight, SPS also delivers natural dynamic and acoustic deadening, making it the ideal material for this premium hospitality space.

That combination suits a venue that has evolved significantly since its opening. Now the “world center of racing,” the 500-acre motorsports campus hosts a diverse schedule of events year-round and boasts fully renovated grandstands. The $400m renovation behind that transformation broke ground in July 2013, and after more than two years of construction, crews delivered the finished venue in January 2016, in time for the 58th Daytona 500.

Architects ROSSETTI were responsible for the master planning of the Daytona Rising site, alongside design-build contractor Barton Malow.
