Part of the Battery Atlanta mixed-use development adjacent to the Atlanta Brave’s stadium, Truist Park, the Coca-Cola Roxy Atlanta brings life to the neighboring area around the clock.

Redefining the thinking about sports-venue adjacent real estate, the Battery Atlanta was developed in 2016 to deliver ‘an unprecedented entertainment experience 365 days a year, not just on gamedays’. Anchored by the Atlanta Braves’ Truist Park, the mixed-use entertainment development includes the Coca-Cola Roxy, a flexible venue hosting live music, corporate meetings, and private events for up to 3,600 people.

Just under 2,200 ft² [202 m²] of Sandwich Plate System was used to construct the mezzanine terraces and underpin the fixed seating and VIP areas. The original specification for aluminum bleachers was changed in favour of sound-deadened SPS mezzanine terraces. SPS is light enough to minimise the number of columns necessary on the lower level so the view to the stage has fewer obstructions. The slender profile of the SPS mezzanine terraces also optimized the vertical space, allowing greater head height.

The SPS terraces were lifted into position using small cranes, simplifying construction in the enclosed, tight space.

Notably:

  • Both levels are ADA wheelchair accessible.
  • The project came in below budget.
  • The project won 1st Place in the Mixed Use Category from the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Georgia Chapter

Delivering a modern fan experience in Atlanta’s icons

The Coca-Cola Roxy is just one of SPS Technology’s projects in Atlanta, which includes the upper-tier seating bowl at Georgia Tech’s historic McCamish Pavilion and Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s new hospitality suites, The Chairman’s Lounge and Stadium Club.
