Tech CU Arena in San Jose, California opened in 2022 as the largest ice facility under one roof west of the Mississippi. For this 4,200-seat indoor arena, architects Perkins&Will selected SPS Technology’s Stadia+Arenas System for the terrace decking, vomitory walls, aisle steps, and stairs. Today, it ranks among the premier recreational ice facilities in North America.

In this 200,000 ft² [18,580 m²] expansion to the original Solar4America Ice complex in San Jose,  the facility grew from four to six ice sheets, installing the SPS Stadia + Arenas system in Rink 6. DevCon Construction served as the design-build architect of record and is pursuing US Green Building Council LEED Silver certification — a fitting recognition for a project built with sustainability in mind.

The installation team at Quality Erectors and Construction Inc. completed the majority of the SPS stadia decking in just one week. Watch QEC’s drone fly-through video to see the build in action, part of a full showcase of the completed Tech CU Arena. The San Jose Barracuda also produced an on-site video documenting the arena’s 2022 construction.

Tech CU Arena hosted the AHL All-Star Classic in February 2024.
